Halo Summary:
London’s Metropolitan Police Department is now using a handheld imaging device that makes bruises—especially on darker skin—much easier to see. Called Project Archway, the tool uses light filtering to reveal injuries that might otherwise go unnoticed, helping officers gather stronger evidence in violence against women cases. In a recent pilot, it was used 33 times and helped secure charges in 45% of those cases. Officers are specially trained to use it with full victim consent and oversight. It’s now rolling out to more boroughs, custody suites, and assault referral centers across London.
